Review of Izziwotnot Moses Basket

Brief Start/First Impressions

One of my first purchases was a moses basket for my newborn. I thought I had given a lot of thought into where my baby would sleep once it was born. However since Tobias came along it is apparent that I hadn’t. There are so many options out there to choose from, be it crib, cot, moses basket or many many more. Then for each of these options, there are then lots of different choices in terms of style and brand. I had decided on a moses basket followed by moving him into his cot bed and then to use the pram cot for day time naps. I hadn’t taken into account his growth rate nor how he would like to be “contained” for a lack of a better word, to feel secure when sleeping.

When looking for a moses basket I came across the Izziwotnot collection who offer a really great range and I chose a dark wood wicker basket with cream dressings. With over 40 years in the business and a wealth of experience, the Izziwotnot brand like to create children’s nurseries and bedrooms and make them very personal to each child. Their mission statement is to help create rooms that inspire, comfort and even delight.

img_0280What Gavin and I Think

When the moses basket arrived I could tell it was going to be a lovely addition to our house and it a very beautiful piece to look at. The quality is amazing and the stand is sturdy, I was truly happy with our choice. The stand is a good height and is easy to assemble. It also feels very supportive and safe. No unsteadiness with this stand. When buying this product be aware that you can’t stop the rocker facility easily like it suggests, you do need to take screws out for the bottoms to be removed.

The moses basket furnishings are made with soft cotton padding that also comes with a canopy hood and a blanket to match, it all looks really luxurious. The mattress that is also included is good quality and provides a water resistant protective covering. However it is made of plastic and we found it to be cold for baby to lie on so we put a towel over the top. That being said, it is a wonderful fit for the basket and offers the perfect level of support for your baby. It is also easily wiped clean, which is always a winner with a baby product!

We really enjoyed using the Izziwotnot Wicker Moses Basket however at 10 weeks old Tobias has fully grown out of it. I would say this is a beautiful product to use on a newborn. I love the colour combinations and because of this I do think the range would suit any household. Tobias does settle well when he is put down in it, however we did struggle when he was suffering with colic as we couldn’t easily raise one side of the basket up due to the stand being a rocker.

If you are looking for a good looking, great quality moses basket that combines functionality with comfort, then I would definitely recommend the Izziwotnot moses basket. However for practability and lasting until baby moves into their own cot, I wouldn’t choose a moses basket at all and I do not think I will be using one with any future children.

  1. Hello Steph, a moses basket is a beautiful statement piece, to bring your little bundle back to, from the hospital! My problem was that my little bundle grew far too big, too fast 😊 I now have a crib that’s next to the bed and this works for my family, however my advice would be to go with what you love!

  2. Such a beautiful Moses basket, I’m due soon and feel overwhelmed by the amount of different products that are out there. I love the idea of a Moses basket because I had one with my first little girl and I’m leaning towards it more so than a crib. Fab and honest review xx
