Over the bank holiday weekend, we kept ourselves busy with a few different activities but due to the weather being boiling hot, we tried to balance being inside at peak times in the day.
On the Saturday we went to Swinton Estate as a family. Through the woods the team there had put a peter rabbit trail on, which led to druids temple and beyond. It was charming and kept Tobias’ attention for two hours. Th aim was to look for all the different characters and after counting all the different objects, we ended up with a code for the lock, which was attached to a chest, with hidden treasure inside. We had taken a picnic with us and stayed under the trees mainly to keep out of the heat. I would really recommend going for a visit as it was a lovely walk, I maybe wouldn’t advise taking a pushchair though and definitely wear wellies!
On the Sunday, we went to our local pub for a good old Sunday dinner, you just can’t beat a good meal out! We also had puddings to finish off with, which was a huge treat. The weather again was super hot so we spent a little time in the beer garden, playing Jenga and trying to entertain two hungry boys!
On the Monday, Gavin ended up having to cut grass around the farm in preparation for silaging (third time this year). Me and the boys went to visit my dad (grandad) to have a catch up, he washed my car and even let the boys get messy by eating ice creams. We came back for a picnic in the fields with Gavin and then the boys and I spent the rest of the afternoon indoors trying to stay out of the sun!
The next weekend I worked on the Friday and Saturday and then we went swimming on the Sunday at the local pool. I was so proud of both my boys. Hamish is getting happier about being in water and Tobias is coming on leaps and bounds with his independent swimming, he really is fearless!
Our fourth Wedding Anniversary was on the 05 September 2019 and now that we have two children and another on the way, getting time by ourselves is proving more and more difficult, however we managed to go out on the Thursday night into Harrogate town for a meal, which we both thoroughly enjoyed! Gavin and I had agreed not to go crazy this year. However traditionally, the fourth year gift should be flowers, I’m still waiting for my’n! As always that night we watched the video of our wedding day. We also went through our wedding book where people had signed or left messages to us.
Much love
Rebecca
