Names We Like But Won’t Be Using

Like so many of you, I love names. I’m definitely one of those people that had a baby name list and it’s been ongoing since I was a child myself. It has changed a hundred times since then though! But let me tell you, it’s NOT as easy as you think once you’re actually expecting a child and choosing a name is finally a real thing! Anyway, today’s post is going to be filled with boy names I love but won’t be using (which I’ll explain why), as well as what types of names I like most.

We likely won’t be sharing the name until our baby is born, but I can give you an idea of the types of names I like. I love:

• Names that you’ve heard before but aren’t popular

• Names with an “S”

• Bible names

• Something unique (but not modern)

I think it’s important to choose a name that will age well and will work for a child and an adult. I don’t really like names that can be shortened to nicknames but if it can be I want to like that variation too. I want to try to avoid initials that are already at our address (for postal reasons) and I don’t want a child with WC for their letters (poor kid)!

With that being said, here are names I like that we won’t be using for various reasons including being too common, Gavin not liking them, I didn’t instantly fall in love with enough or they’re just not ones I would ever personally use, even though I think they’re cute. However, things change and I might use them in future children (if we have more). You’re welcome to cringe laugh or share your opinions on these names too as names really are so personal and everyone has different tastes, so I get it! Hopefully this gives you some ideas if you’re on the hunt for the perfect one.

Some of the best places I’ve used for gaining inspiration are on YouTube, name Berry website and SJ Strum on Instagram. Shops that sell personalised items always have lots of ideas you can steal too!

Those are some names I love, but won’t be using (at least not this time round). I’d love to hear some of your favourites in the comments, what names you think we’d like or what your children are named, but beware I might just add them to the list if I like them that much! I feel like I’ve seen every name out there, but we’re always open to suggestions!

Much love Rebecca
